Marking Mongolia’s western frontier lays the Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain Range
its oases, and contains some remote sections of several national parks, but most travelers head further west to the more beautiful and interesting mountains in western Mongolia.
Amazing snow-capped peaks, vast green pastures, salt water lakes and creamy deserts a habitat of the Snow Leopard, Argali Wild Sheep and the Lynx. The range also contains Mongolia’s longest glacier Potanin, which extends over 18 km. The itinerary offers a great climbing and hiking opportunity right at the Mongolia-Russia border. The target is the highest peak of Mongolia, Mount Khuiten (Cold) (4,374 m.). The expedition is suitable for both climbers and trekkers with a good fitness level and winter hiking experience. The classic route follows the North West Ridge. Our drivers and cooks equipped with outdoor equipment that is made for the type of adventure.
TRIP ITINERARY:
Day 1: Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel. City tour including a visit to Gandan Monastery, the largest Buddhist Center of Mongolia, followed by National History Museum , Traditional performance in the evening. (L.D)
Day 2: Bayan-Ulgii Province
Morning flight to the center of Bayan-Ulgii province, Ulgii Town (3:00). This area is Kazakh, Tuvan national population of 8432 residents and most of the Kazakhs. Drive to Lake Zagast . (This day journey is 130 km). Overnight stay in tents. (B.L.D)
Day 3-5: Climbing
Today start climbing activity . The most extreme point of western Altai Mountains in the first part of the Tavan Bogd Mountain Cold tops to start on the right side Russia and China, bordering. In winter weather is the harsh climate, the highest point above sea level of 4653 m / cold peak / and the lowest point is 1873 m. A total of 646.3 thousand hectares of land. Overnight stay in tents. Day 6: Tsagaan gol / Bayan-Ulgii Province
After completion of the climbing, visit local Kazakh families. White River, is the main valley flowing from the Tavan Bogd Mountains to Tsengel village and the center section of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay in tents. (B.L.D)
Day 7: Ulgii/ Bayan-Ulgii Province
Drive back to Ulgii Town. This province gives you excellent overview of Kazakh culture such as Ulgii mosque ,especially on Friday at lunch time when weekly prayers gather . Overnight stay in tents. (B.L.D)
Day 8: Ulaanbaatar
Return fly to Ulaanbaatar and transfer to hotel, free time (B.L.D)
Day 9: Ulaanbaatar
City tour including the Zaisan war memorial, followed by a visit to the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum, a home of the last Khaan of Mongolia , Gobi factory store, Department store . (B.L.D)
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast depart to airport.
