Visas
Mongolian open policy made easy visa procedures, so the visitors could get a visa on arrival at the airport. However, the tourists recommended getting organized visas prior to departure.
Accommodations in City
You will stay in selected hotels in Ulaanbaatar. Most of the hotels provide International Direct Dial service, television with multilingual satellite TV programming, hairdryers, minibars, room service, business centers, and in-room western style toilet and shower facilities.
Accommodations in the Countryside
While you traveling in the countryside you will stay in Mongolian traditional gers at various tourist ger-camps. These base camps consist of gers furnished with stoves for heating, beds and basic furniture, and separate buildings for restaurants and shower/restroom facilities. Single supplements in hotels and gers are available upon request.
Meals
Basically both traditional Mongolian and European cuisine is served. Arrangements can be made for vegetarians and those with special dietary needs with advance notice. Hot and cold beverages are provided with all meals. Alcoholic beverage is available upon additional request.
Entertainment
A visit to the traditional folk concert is included. Visits to the Classical music, national opera, dance and ballet performances, cultural shows and circus performances are available upon request.
Transportation
All inland transportations arranged by 4wd minivans. Transfers in City are arranged by air-conditioned coaches.
Language
Experienced and well-educated guides fluently speaking all major languages like German, English and etc. are taking care of the groups.
Currency
Euros and U.S dollars are accepted throughout Mongolia. Traveler’s checks can be exchanged for cash at commercial banks. Hotels, restaurants, and major shops accept major credit cards such as American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club. Also, ATMs are available at some locations.
Communication
Making an international call from Mongolia, including province centers, is getting easier. Mobile phone coverage is now available in Ulaanbaatar city and throughout the country. All province centers have cafe outlets connected to the Internet.
Medical Information
There is no specific vaccination requirement to enter Mongolia. Medical facilities are available in Ulaanbaatar and major provincial centers. Valid international medical insurance is recommended.
Serious medical problems requiring hospitalization and/or medical evacuation either within Mongolia or to other countries are extremely expensive and can cost more than $100,000. Please note that not all insurance companies provide medical evacuation coverage for Mongolia. Please check with your insurance provider before traveling and consider supplemental medical or travel insurance. Currently, SOS Medica Mongolia UB International Clinic ,InterMed, Songodo Hospital, Achtan Elite Hospital Epuda Dental Clinic are medical evacuation services in Mongolia.
Time and Electricity
Local time in Ulaanbaatar is GMT +8 hours. Mongolia uses 220 volts AC, therefore, to use 110 volts, necessary adapters and proper plugs are advised.
Shopping
Time is allowed for shopping in Ulaanbaatar and open air markets in provinces. Wide range of typical Mongolian goods like traditional souvenirs, furs, garments in cashmere, camel wool blankets, national costumes, boots, jewelry, carpets, books, records, traditional toys and paintings are offered.
